Metro ExpressLanes ( Motorcycles now roll free )

For those of you riding the 110 fwy in the South Bay / South Central Los Angeles, this is pretty important information (change) in the Express Lane requirements.

"Dear Metro ExpressLanes Customer,
A recent improvement to our tolling software now enables motorcycles with a standard issue license plate to travel on the Metro ExpressLanes toll-free without a transponder or FasTrak® account, effective immediately! This is based upon the DMV issuing unique license plates for motorcycles, coupled with a software improvement that now allows us to positively identify a standard issue motorcycle plate. If you would like to close your account, please return your transponder with a note that you would like to close your account..."

(... It brings up a couple questions. a.) did they really "improve" the tolling software? Seriously, how stupid do you think we are? b.) was this change made due to the failure of people to pay for transponders and thus causing increased traffic (horrible) on the 110... thus MORE lane splitting... and more accidents. Yep.)
